Biden Confirms Debate with Trump amid Election Fraud Claims

President Joe Biden has announced his willingness to participate in debates with former President Donald Trump during a recent interview on Howard Stern’s radio show, ending months of uncertainty about whether the two candidates would face off once again. The move comes amid persistent calls for debate involvement from media organizations and frequent taunting from the former president, who has frequently accused Biden of using drugs to enhance his performance in debates four years ago. Trump campaign adviser Chris LaCivita quickly responded on Twitter: “Ok let’s set it up!” During their exchange about a possible return to live political confrontation before Election Day this year, Stern offered the President some advice for handling such an encounter with his former adversary: “I’d say to the audience ‘What are we debating?’” said the veteran radio host. “A man picked up the phone and wanted to say, ‘Fake the election. Give me 11,00 votes.’ I don’t know how any American who loves this country – that’s the end of the debate.” Biden’s announcement follows a joint statement signed by twelve major media outlets calling for debates between both candidates before November’s elections in light of Trump’s persistent false claims about election fraud. The Commission on Presidential Debates has already announced dates, times and criteria governing 2024 encounters, as part of an effort to prevent any repeat of the chaotic exchanges that characterized their last face-to-face meeting before voters went to the polls in November’s general elections.
