Biden’s Mobility Assistance Measures Implemented Due to Age Concerns

President Biden has been seen relying on aides as he travels between Marine One and the White House due to concerns about his age, according to reports from Axios. Previously, Biden was often spotted walking solo across the South Lawn towards his helicopter but now several advisers accompany him in order to create a less distracting visual image that focuses away from Biden’s occasional unsteadiness or awkward movements. The new approach is said to have been suggested by Biden himself before it was implemented last month, and top-ranking figures including Donilon, Reed and Tomasini can frequently be spotted lining up between the president and the media cameras during these trips.
Biden’s doctor previously explained that his distinctive gait stems from both “spinal arthritis” and “mild sensory peripheral neuropathy of the feet”. As a result, he typically undergoes physical therapy most days in an effort to improve mobility. The president has also experienced several public falls or near misses while travelling since becoming commander-in-chief – for instance, last February Biden slipped as he climbed aboard Air Force One but was able to catch himself on the handrail before continuing his ascent. To prevent similar incidents from occurring in future, a White House team has introduced shorter stairs that are easier for Biden to navigate when disembarking from the plane. In addition, the Secret Service now station an agent at the foot of these steps whenever he alights Air Force One.
Biden’s new shoes – “Hoka Transports” which boast a broad sole in order to boost stability and have received certification from America Podiatric Association as being beneficial for foot health- are also reportedly part of this initiative designed to assist the president with mobility issues, according to an Inside Edition report.
