Contact vs. Contact: Pirates Face Travel Woes Against Home Run-Starved Giants

Rewriting Article: Pirates vs. Giants, 10:15 ET
As a dedicated bettor, I closely monitor my wagers to identify trends throughout the year. While it’s easy to celebrate four consecutive wins and an impressive win percentage of around 20%, losing streaks can feel overwhelming at times. Fortunately for me, Wednesday’s losses were followed by victories on Tuesday, balancing out the situation. I believe that if you cannot tolerate tough times, betting isn’t a good fit for you either. Regardless, sunshine awaits us tonight as we watch the Pirates and Giants go head-to-head.
The Pittsburgh Pirates provided me with some challenges during yesterday’s game despite my high expectations from Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta. Although they may not be a team that overwhelms opponents with power, their potential to make an impact in future years is promising if things fall into place for them. The squad’s batting average currently hovers around .240 but isn’t overly alarming given their strategy of playing basic station-to-station baseball and capitalizing on home runs when they arise. They have a decent on-base percentage, making it essential to avoid free passes as much as possible against them. Tonight’s game features young Pirates pitcher Quinn Priester. His career start hasn’t been particularly impressive so far; he was only able to complete 4.1 innings in his first outing this season while allowing three home runs and four earned runs. Jorge Soler is the sole Giant with prior experience against him, having gone two-for-two at bat versus Priester.
The San Francisco Giants are a team that I recently won my bet on due to their strong starting pitchers’ performances. They have built around this asset and supplemented it by adding mostly contact hitters in other positions. While the likes of Soler, who is primarily known for his power hitting skills, can be found among them, they aim for contact plays throughout the season because hits are tougher to come across during post-season playoffs when homers become scarcer. Tonight’s game will see Kyle Harrison take the mound for San Francisco. His 5.00 ERA and a WHIP of 1.33 could suggest that he might be experiencing some bad luck rather than poor performance, as evidenced by his three quality starts out of five games so far. Interestingly, each of the five times Harrison appeared in game play allowed for two earned runs or more and at least one home run except for one occurrence when neither came about during the matchup.
The Pirates aren’t a particularly strong hitting team, but I believe that given their contact-oriented approach to batting, they may struggle against San Francisco’s mostly contact hitters tonight. Additionally, it should be noted that Pittsburgh is traveling from East Coast and playing in West Cost conditions this time around which might lead some hitting problems when the game begins at 10 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). Consequently, I anticipate a Giants win for today’s matchup while also predicting an under. For more sports betting insights and picks, follow me on Twitter @futureprez2024.
