After experiencing a non-standard vibration near its right wing during flight, a Boeing 767 operated by Delta Air Lines was forced to return to John F. Kennedy International Airport on Friday morning. The crew reported observing an unexpected indicator related to the emergency slide falling off while in the air. All passengers and crew members aboard the Los Angeles-bound aircraft safely disembarked upon landing, with another plane transporting them to their destination later that day. Delta Air Lines confirmed that there were 176 customers on board at the time of the incident along with two pilots and five flight attendants. The airline removed the affected Boeing 767-300ER from service while local authorities investigate where the emergency slide landed, as part of an ongoing investigation being conducted by both Delta teams and regulatory bodies like the FAA. In a statement to reporters, they acknowledged the cooperation provided during the diversion operation which allowed passengers ample opportunity to adjust travel schedules before requesting everyone’s patience in dealing with any inconvenience caused due to this unforeseen circumstance.
