Former Nebraska deputy Anthony Gann has been arrested following an indictment by a grand jury on suspicion of manslaughter in relation to the fatal shooting of Jorge Santana-Ramirez in October. Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon announced the indictment against Gann, who is being held at a local jail with bail set at $100,000. The 43-year-old suspect was fatally shot by law enforcement officers during a high-speed chase on Interstate 80 that began in Seward County and ended in Lancaster County. While attempting to apprehend Santana-Ramirez following his refusal to stop, deputies allegedly spotted what they believed to be a weapon in the driver’s hand before discharging their firearms. Gann has resigned from his position as deputy sheriff at Seward County Sheriff Michael Vance’s office after an internal investigation failed to identify any wrongdoings or breaches of procedure on his part during the incident, according to local reports by Lincoln Journal Star. It is unclear whether Gann currently holds legal representation.
