Justice Accuses ’60 Minutes’ of Falling Short Over Parental Rights Segment while Rather Set To Address Malpractice Scandal in Interview

Tiffany Justice has criticized CBS’ prestigious news program ’60 Minutes’, stating that it fell short of its legendary standards during a segment focusing on a conservative group advocating for parental rights. Dan Rather, who was ousted from his position as anchor at the network in 2005 following an infamous scandal involving fake documents about former President George W Bush’s military career, is set to appear on CBS Sunday Morning this month. The interview will cover Rather’s time working for CBS and his experiences within journalism, with particular attention being paid to a documentary charting the high points of his professional journey. Critics claimed that During Dan Rather’s final year at CBS News, in September 2015, he spoke about “misinformation” on ‘PBS NewsHour Weekend’. Justice accused ’60 Minutes’ of failing to meet its lofty standards during a segment focusing on the group ‘Parents Defending Education’, which is advocating for parental rights regarding how schools teach race and gender issues. The 92-year-old Rather left CBS in 2005 following allegations that he reported fake documents about Bush’s military service, while his departure was confirmed two years later after an investigation into journalistic malpractice. Despite this controversy, Rather has remained a prominent figure within the media and is frequently invited to appear on far-left platforms like CNN and MSNBC. The ’60 Minutes’ episode focused on ‘Parents Defending Education’, which features prominent critics of so-called “woke” education policies such as Christopher Rufo, who was interviewed for the segment alongside former school board member Alison Leong. Justice accused CBS News President Susan Zirinsky and senior executive producer Irving Gotlieb of allowing a misleading narrative to be presented during the piece. She also criticised ’60 Minutes’ correspondent Andrea Mitchell for failing to challenge Rufo on his claims that critical race theory is being taught in schools, despite this assertion having been widely debunked by fact-checkers and educators alike. Justice further accused CBS of allowing false statements about parental rights advocates from left-wing activist Kristen Clarke, who was confirmed as head of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division earlier this year following a contentious Senate confirmation process that saw her grilled over allegations she had made anti-white comments and played fast and loose with truth on a variety of legal cases involving criminal trials. Rather is set to be interviewed about his new documentary, ‘Rather’, which explores the highs and lows of his career in journalism during an upcoming episode of CBS Sunday Morning due to air on May 9 at noon EDT / 10 am CDT/ PDT respectively (timings subject to regional differences). The documentary is scheduled for release via Netflix from May 1.
