Chicago ranked second overall for its abundant selection of reading materials with 187 bookstores and 80 public libraries. San Francisco took the third spot due to a high number of bookstores (146) and independent shops as well as publishing houses in the area. Lawn Love’s list also revealed that while larger cities dominated most spots, college towns such as New Haven, Connecticut – home to Yale University- ranked 41st on this ranking. Cambridge, Massachusetts, took position 51 thanks to Harvard University being situated within its vicinity providing students and visitors alike with access to an impressive array of books from the prestigious institution’s libraries. In contrast, Rancho Cordova in California was placed last among all cities ranked by Lawn Love after four Utah-based locations preceded it on this list.
