Lufthansa B747 Endures Rough Landing at LAX; No Injuries Reported

Rewrite: German airline Lufthansa’s Boeing 747-8 flight from Frankfurt to Los Angeles experienced a “rough landing” at the city’s international airport (LAX) on Tuesday, which was caught on camera by an aviation enthusiast based in LA. The footage shows smoke coming out of the bottom part of the plane where the wheels are as it attempted its first touchdown before bouncing off and attempting to land again. After consulting with technical staff both at LAX and Frankfurt’s airport, the aircraft returned back to Germany for further inspection following the incident which did not result in any injuries among passengers or crew members on board during what was described by Lufthansa as a training flight, having 326 flyers and nineteen pilots aboard. Based in Los Angeles, Airline Videos is behind the viral clip and was formed last year after Kevin Ray – who previously worked as a photojournalist for local news broadcasters – teamed up with his aviation-loving friends to create content focused on planes at airports around Southern California for fans worldwide. This move by Lufthansa comes amid increased oversight from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of Boeing and its supplier Spirit AeroSystems, which includes halting production expansion plans following a door plug blowout mid-flight on one Alaska Airlines’ Max 9 jet in early January.
