Progressive Democrats Join Anti-Israel Protests at Columbia University amid Safety Concerns

The progressive “Squad” Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman, and Ilhan Omar have all recently been seen associating with anti-Israel protesters at Columbia University. In a video shared on social media, AOC was spotted speaking to those participating in the encampment set up by demonstrators protesting against Israel’s military actions in Gaza. Bowman also made an appearance and listened intently as students expressed their views during the protest. These visits came just one day after Omar visited Columbia University alongside her daughter, who had been suspended from Barnard College for participating in anti-Israel protests on campus last week. The appearances by these three prominent “Squad” Democrats come amidst growing concerns about escalating tensions and safety issues at universities around the United States following several protesters across multiple colleges that have taken an aggressive turn, with some issuing calls for intifada and death threats against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Rabbi Joseph Potasnik warned Jewish students to leave campus due to fears over their safety during these protests as anti-Israel activists chanted slogans such as “Al-Qassam, you make us proud, kill another soldier now!” and “Hamas, we love you. We support your rockets too!”. In response, Omar suggested that the Gaza ceasefire encampments at Columbia University were being unfairly portrayed by public officials and members of the media as protests are co-opted to be made out to look bad so police and public leaders would shut them down. Concurrent stories on verbal assaults committed against Jewish students while partaking in peaceful activity near such events continue pouring forth at alarming levels from a significant proportionate sampling throughout academia nationwide, as evidenced by the reports of physical violence experienced by one student recently quoted regarding how “They pushed and shoved me … they threw rocks in my face, whereby their intentional goal to terrorise innocent Jews becomes completely exposed”, despite security personnel’s absence from campus.
