Retired Teacher Challenges Nazareth Borough’s Ordinance Against Vehicle Sales through Personal Commercial Speech

Will Cramer, a recently retired schoolteacher from Pennsylvania’s Nazareth borough, has filed a lawsuit seeking to prohibit the town from enforcing an ordinance against selling vehicles through traditional and effective forms of personal commercial speech after being convicted for putting “for sale” signs in his parked truck windows. The 69-year-old joined forces with think tank Institute For Justice, insisting Nazareth cannot reasonably provide valid reasoning behind the policy’s implementation as he failed to understand why they would be so concerned about a car displaying such signage. Cramer received a ticket and criminal charge for putting “for sale” signs in his truck window before retiring from teaching high school geometry and biology last year, intending to sell it ahead of moving to the Philippines to teach English next January after 20 years of service at Nazareth High School. Despite not challenging this citation, Cramer plans on appealing its ruling following his return home as he has encountered similar cases involving First Amendment rights violations in criminal proceedings. The borough did not respond when contacted for comment by Fox News Digital.
