Rick Scott Launches $ millions Hispanic Outreach Campaign Aimed at Keeping Democrats at Bay in Florida Senate Race

Rick Scott, a senator from Florida running for re-election in a crucial race that could contribute to the possible formation of a Republican Senate majority, has announced a significant investment worth millions of dollars aimed at keeping Hispanic voters away from Democrats. The new advertisement, which will run both on television and radio channels across various markets throughout Florida as well as digital platforms, follows a familiar pattern of prior adverts where it aims to reach Spanish-speaking audiences in English or Spanish versions simultaneously. In the latest installment titled “Verdad,” Scott criticizes radical socialist teachers who teach children that men can have babies and become women instead of teaching them maths and English as parents do at home, further highlighting the difference between right and wrong while emphasizing values such as truth versus lies. The ad’s theme is in line with past elections involving Florida-based politics which highlighted socialism; given Scott’s message is also significant due to its connection with Hispanic heritage communities from Cuba and Venezuela residing in Florida, making this demographic a crucial voting bloc for both parties during the election season.
The Americas Society/Council of the Americas has reported that 55% of Floridians identifying as Hispanics voted Republican in Scott’s re-election bid last year. This trend was also visible during Miami-Dade County’s Democratic stronghold, which Hillary Clinton won with an astonishing difference (29%) when pitted against her then Republican challenger, Donald Trump.
Scott is expected to win the upcoming primary on August 20th and might possibly confront former congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell who represented Florida’s twenty-sixth district but lost in the previous election. Analysts rate this race as either “likely” or “solidly Republican.” Brandon Gillespie, an associate editor at Fox News, has contributed to this report.
