The 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival is set to host British rock legends The Rolling Stones on the final day of its two-weekend lineup, after prior cancellations in both 2019 and 2021. Festival producer Quint Davis has expressed his excitement for their performance next Thursday, stating that “it’s gonna be special.” It marks their festival debut after scheduled but canceled performances following the illness of lead singer Mick Jagger in 2019 and a COVID-related cancellation last year. The Stones are set to headline on May 2nd with tickets already sold out, leaving other stages closed during their performance as fans primarily bought tickets for this day to see them perform hits such as ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ and ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’. This year’s festival boasts a diverse range of musical styles including blues, R&B, gospel, Cajun, Zydeco, Afro-Caribbean, folk, Latin, rock, rap, contemporary and traditional jazz, country, bluegrass, with Colombia also being highlighted as part of the cultural exchange. Festivalgoers can enjoy a variety of delectable Southern delights while exploring these acts in various genres from the event’s 14 stages spread throughout historic Fair Grounds race course. The festival opened on Thursday and is set to continue through Sunday, with Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jon Batiste, country megastar Chris Stapleton, R&B singer Fantasia, rock band Heart, Cajun fiddler Amanda Shaw, jazz pianist Patrice Rushen, blues and folk artist Ruthie Foster all scheduled to perform. Festivalgoers have praised the festival’s entertainment offerings, with Walter Agnew expressing that he “couldn’t go wrong by any of [the] acts.” Ginger Schell has also been a regular attendee since 2019, highlighting her enjoyment for both the music and food on offer.
