Simmons Speaks Out Against Pauly Shore Biopic, Plans Own Project for Accuracy

Richard Simmons has made it clear he does not approve of a biopic about him that Pauly Shore is set to star in. In response to reports that Jordan Allen-Dutton had been hired to write the script, Simmons took to Facebook and wrote: “I just read that a man I don’t know is writing my bio pic with Pauly Shore playing me. I do not approve this movie.”
Simmons also stated he was working on his own biopic project in partnership with major studios, which he intends for more accuracy and honesty to showcase the essence of himself better. When Shore learned about Simmons’ disapproval via Facebook, he jokingly replied: “Richard, how do you not approve of this movie? I mean really who’s better to play you in a movie than me?”
Shore further explained that DiCaprio and Pitt were both unavailable for the role. He added that Simmons should let him bring him soup and pastrami sandwich before agreeing or declining. However, Richard countered by stating he would prefer Tom Cruise playing his biopic instead of Shore.
The viral memes in January caused speculation about whether Pauly will portray the former fitness guru on screen. In September 2019, Shore took to Facebook and claimed that he reached out to Simmons after seeing many reactions from people regarding him playing Richard’s role. He further stated that Simmons was residing in Big Bear at present, but they have been trying to connect over the phone for some time now.
Shore believes a biopic about Richard could “unite America” because of his positive impact on society and how he helped many people overcome their weight issues. In March 2019, Simmons disclosed that he was diagnosed with skin cancer more than ten years ago after withdrawing from the public eye for an extended period. He shared in a Facebook post about the procedure but mentioned that some cells were left behind during surgery and had to be burned again.
However, Richard’s statement clarified that there is no truth whatsoever regarding his death rumors; instead, he intends to portray himself accurately through his own biopic project with major studios in collaboration.
