Slotkin accused of political spin on startup amidst “Not in Good Standing” label

One Democrat running for Senate in Michigan, Elissa Slotkin, has been accused of starting her own small business with the aim to present herself favorably before entering a House bid in 2017. The company called Pinpoint Consulting was established by Slotkin in June that year and she then announced her run for Congress using messaging highlighting her status as an entrepreneur. However, it remains unclear if the business generated revenue or had clients during its existence because her campaign has not confirmed this information. Following Slotkin’s successful House bid in 2018 by a two percentage point margin against Republican incumbent Mike Bishop, there are suggestions that she deliberately used the small firm as an opportunity to make herself look like a moderate GOP candidate appealing to voters who did not support President Donald Trump during his election campaign. The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs labeled Pinpoint Consulting “Not in Good Standing” in 2020 because it had failed to file annual reports since 2019, with the company now being described as defunct by officials within her own party, who accuse Slotkin’s apparent politicization of small business status. Spokespeople for Slotkin did not respond before publication when contacted by The Washington Examiner regarding these allegations.
