Donald Trump has responded to President Joe Biden’s comment that he would be “happy to debate” him on the Howard Stern Show by challenging his successor to face off against him at any time and place, even suggesting they meet up outside a New York City courthouse.
Trump made this proposal via Truth Social after learning of Biden’s recent interview with radio host Howard Stern. While it appears that Biden had already left the city when Trump issued his challenge on Thursday night, Trump accused him in his post of being unaware he was still there as part of a “continuing witch hunt” initiated by Biden during last year’s election campaign.
The former president also suggested they debate at the courthouse where one of these cases is taking place tonight – an idea that could see them facing off on national television. Trump went so far to suggest he would be happy for this encounter to take place immediately, writing: “In fact, let’s do the Debate at the Courthouse tonight – on National Television, I’ll wait around!”
Despite his recent willingness to debate Biden, however, it should be noted that Trump did not participate in any of the five Republican primary debates during last year’s election cycle. Regardless, this did not stop him from comfortably securing a nomination prior to both contenders going head-to-head twice during the 2020 presidential campaign as Biden emerged victorious following each debate.
The next three general election debates are scheduled for September 16 in Texas, October 1 in Virginia and October 9 in Utah with a vice presidential faceoff set to take place on September 25 in Pennsylvania.
