Anne Heche’s Unresolved Estate Faces $6M in Creditor Claims Two Years After Her Death

Rewritten Article: Two years have passed since the death of actress Anne Heche, but her estate remains unresolved due to over $6 million in outstanding creditor claims. The cause of death was determined by authorities as an accident resulting from thermal and respiratory injuries sustained during a car crash that destroyed a home in August 2022. Homer Laffoon, Heче’s eldest son with her former spouse Coley Laffoon, has been appointed administrator for the estate, working alongside James Tupper, Atlas’ father. The pair are selling some personal belongings before liquidating remaining assets through an estate sale company. Although a book advance and royalty agreement was finalized in January 2023 for “Call Me Anne,” sales have so far been meager at less than $25,000. Thomas Jane filed a claim worth over $149,006 while Citibank demanded $36,131 and the West Hills Hospital & Medical Center requested $1,838 in claims. Lynne Mishele, who was residing at Heche’s former home when it caught fire during her car crash last year, filed a claim worth $2 million against the estate as did Jennifer and John Durand – both owners of that particular residence prior to its demolition after the incident. The house has since been sold for $1.35m by Steve Neuman at Park Regency Realty; it had originally hit the market last year for a price tag of $1.5 million following significant renovations and reconstruction works including a new roof, copper plumbing system, tankless water heater, insulation as well as soft-close cabinetry in its kitchen’s quartzite countertops area. Heche had expressed her desire to donate organs through the OneLegacy Foundation while under medical care at Grossman Burn Center for a severe anoxic brain injury sustained during her final days when she remained comatose and hooked up on life support machinery as part of that foundation’s mandated procedure. After being declared brain-dead, Heche was “peacefully taken off life support” two weeks later at the age of 53 years old. She leaves behind sons Homer and Atlas with Laffoon and Tupper respectively.
