Anti-Israel activists took to the streets of Washington D.C. To protest American support for Israel’s military, specifically targeting attendees of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Kalorama Park on Saturday evening. The group Code Pink organized the demonstration, criticizing mainstream media outlets as endorsers of President Biden’s pro-Israel policies and accusing them of perpetuating anti-Palestinian narratives while ignoring Israeli war crimes. Protesters wore keffiyehs, waved Palestinian flags or held signs mourning loss of life in Gaza. The protests come amid a surge in anti-Israel demonstrations at universities across the country. In Arizona, nearly 70 protesters were arrested on Saturday for blocking guests from entering the White House Correspondents’ Dinner venue. It is unclear how much impact these protests will have on President Biden who was expected to leave the White House around 7 p.m., and take the stage at approximately 8:30 PM ET for remarks.
