Rewritten Article:
If you anticipated a flurry of trades during the opening round of the NFL Draft, only to be disappointed as notable teams like the Patriots and Cardinals remained put, then welcome to Round 2 – your chance for redemption. Unlike Thursday night’s lackluster trade activity that saw just one swap in the entire first round, tonight has already seen six trades in the first fourteen picks alone. In fact, there have been more deals made so far during this second frame than throughout all of Round 1!
Leading off was a switch between divisional rivals Chargers and Patriots as they worked out an arrangement that allowed Los Angeles to nab Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey at pick #43. The Falcons then followed suit, trading up with the Cardinals in order to snatch Clemson defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro with selection 51 overall. Meanwhile, across town in Los Angeles again (but this time involving their NFL-NFC crosstown rivals), the Rams and Panthers engaged in a swap that saw Carolina move up by four slots for Florida State’s Braden Fiske at pick #48 – while LA netted an extra fourth round selection as compensation.
Another pair of NFC East teams also made waves when Philadelphia moved over to select cornerback Cooper DeJean from Wisconsin with the 51st overall choice, in exchange for Washington’s original second-rounder (#60). Switching tracks entirely though; down at quarterbacks – yesterday marked their searing day-long debut as six signal callers were selected during Round One. However tonight has seen a different story unfold with defense taking center stage: thus far, we have witnessed the selection of no less than six defensive tackles and five cornerbacks in this round alone!
