Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann has called for an “economic civil war” between blue states and red states in America as the solution to end mass shootings, while also appearing to cancel his subscription with The New York Times due to publisher A.G. Sulzberger’s alleged attitude towards President Biden. In a tweet on Friday evening, Olbermann shared an image of himself opting out of paying for The Times and accused Sulzberger of having “intolerable” feelings against the president that endanger democracy. He further claimed in a video posted to his account the following day that Sulzberger has been critical of Biden’s decision not to do interviews with major newspapers, including The New York Times itself. Olbermann’s comments come after former President Trump was impeached for inciting an insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6 and as Democrats push ahead with their $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package in Congress. In a separate incident last month, Olbermann hit out at Comedy Central host John Stewart over his criticism of Biden’s approach to interviews during Super Bowl weekend. Meanwhile, CNN anchor Abby Phillip also faced backlash from the liberal commentator earlier this year when she said “nobody” wanted either Trump or Biden in office again.
