Texas Mother Cleared in Fatal Shooting Defending Home Against Intruder

A Texas mother who fatally shot a 14-year-old boy breaking into her daughter’s window last December will not be charged, as a grand jury in Tarrant County chose to no-bill Aleah Wallace this week. The mom of four told FOX 4 that she was relieved the case had been resolved and worried it would drag on or result in consequences for her children. Her daughters are still receiving therapy following the incident but otherwise, they’re doing well. While acknowledging her condolences to Baker’s family, Wallace defended her actions as necessary to protect herself and her kids from repeated attempted burglaries that she reported to police beforehand. The eviction threat against her for allegedly violating apartment rules about guns in government-subsidized housing was also dropped after a lawyer took up her case pro bono, with Republican state Rep. Carrie Isaac supporting Wallace as well. She and her family have since moved from the apartment where they lived at the time of the shooting.
