Charles Barkley lambasted the struggling performance of the New Orleans Pelicans during their playoff game loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams each scored over 20 points as the Thunder secured a decisive victory at home with a scoreline reading 106-85. This marks the team’s closer edge towards attaining its initial NBA Playoff series success since claiming victorious rights for advancement to the finals in 2016.
Barkley, an esteemed Hall of Famer and NBA fanatic on TNT expressed his candid opinions as he blatantly asserted that if trends persisted with how badly the Pelicans were performing against Oklahoma City during this playoff series loss then they would not be headed to Cancun, Mexico but rather a more undesirable location. “Where are they going Chuck?” asked Shaquille O’Neal on TNT as Barkley replied bluntly, “Galveston,” prompting Shaq to burst out laughing in response.
Barkley further explained that Galveston was not even worthy of being considered a beach destination due to the filthy water which washed up onto its shorelines. “We ain’t sending them (Pelicans) to Cancun, y’all quit! Y’all get down to Galveston where that dirty ass-water be washin up on de shore…” quipped Barkley jocularly whilst imitating a southern accent.
If the Thunder manages to secure another win in this playoff series then they will progress onto facing off against either Los Angeles Clippers or Dallas Mavericks, who are currently locked at 2-1. In contrast, Dallas leads its current standoff with Los Angeles’ Lakers in a closely contested 3 games versus their rivals’.
