Biden Administration Accused of Using Taxpayer Funds for Campaign Activities by Rep. Beth Van Duyne

Reps Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) from the House Oversight, Investigations and Regulations Subcommittee has accused the Biden administration of using taxpayer funds to carry out campaign activities ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Her accusation stems from a memorandum signed between the Small Business Administration (SBA) and Michigan’s Department of State in March, which aims at promoting voter registration until 2036. The move follows President Biden’s executive order last year directing federal agencies to promote voting rights. Van Duyne claimed that out of twenty-five SBA events held in Michigan since the memorandum was signed, twenty-two have taken place in areas with high concentrations of Democratic National Committee target demographics, a violation of the Hatch Act which bars government officials from engaging in partisan activities using federal resources. “This is obviously a campaign attempt to get out Biden voters,” Van Duyne said on Fox News Live. She added that SBA should be focusing its efforts instead on helping small businesses affected by President Biden’s economic policies, such as high inflation and difficulty with hiring due to government-funded entitlement schemes for the unemployed. The “Blue Wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania are crucial in securing a second term for Joe Biden according to Fox News national correspondent Bryan Llenas who noted that half of Michiganders were either doing well financially or holding steady under Biden’s presidency while just below fifty percent struggled economically but voted heavily for former president Trump. There have not been any comments made by the White House concerning this accusation against their administration as yet, and Van Duyne has expressed concerns that other agencies may also be involved in similar activities due to President Biden’s executive order from last year which mandated federal agencies promote voter registration efforts. The letter sent earlier in April by the House Small Business Committee requesting information about this memorandum signed between SBA and Michigan’s Department of State has not yet received a response, Van Duyne revealed on Fox News Live.
