Biden Takes Humorous Dig at Age, Trump’s Bible Reading; Condemns Labeling Press as Enemy

President Joe Biden made lighthearted remarks about his age and former President Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night. He joked that he was running against “a 6-year-old” but quickly turned it around, acknowledging that at 81 years old, some may say he has had enough time in office. Biden even included Lorne Michaels in one of his jokes by referencing the famous line from Saturday Night Live about giving someone else a chance.

The president also took aim at Trump’s legal troubles, poking fun at him for starting to read Bibles after being accused of various crimes. “Then he got to ‘You shall have no other gods before me,’” Biden quipped. “That’s when he put it down and said, ‘This book is not for me.’”

Biden’s remarks took a more serious tone as he criticized Trump for labeling the press as “the enemy of the people.” The president expressed his gratitude towards journalists who risk their lives covering natural disasters, pandemics, wars and everything else that they encounter on duty. Biden spoke strongly against such actions, stating categorically: “Journalism’s clearly not a crime – nowhere here, there or anywhere in the world”.
