Britney Spears Breaks Silence on Legal Battle with Father Jamie, Criticizes Family Members in Instagram Post

Britney Spears appears to have broken her silence regarding her recent legal battle with father Jamie Spears by sharing a topless photograph on social media, during which she discussed receiving acupuncture treatment for nerve pain in her back before criticising family members just days after finally settling the contentious conservatorship case. The court-ordered settlement took place on 12 November last year; however, an ongoing disagreement over Jamie’s request that Britney cover his legal fees persisted until Friday, and further details of this dispute have not been disclosed publicly.
In her Instagram post from Sunday, Spears wrote: “My family hurt me!!! There has been no justice and probably never will be!!!” She continued by criticising those who remained silent during the four months that Jamie was in control. The singer also alluded to continuing safety concerns surrounding a potential face-to-face conversation with her parents as she believes they would react destructively, while simultaneously admitting feelings of longing for her childhood home in Louisiana and expressing disappointment at being unable to visit due to its confiscation by family members during the conservatorship.
Jamie Spears became Britney’s legal guardian after a series of involuntary psychiatric holds in 2008, giving him significant influence over her personal affairs and major life decisions throughout his time as her conservator; however, he stepped down from this position following November’s court ruling. A spokesperson for Spears explained that while the case itself concluded last year, “Britney Spears won when the court suspended [Jamie]… And Britney Spears won again when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored.”
In addition to being estranged from Jamie since November’s verdict in her legal dispute against him, Lynne (Spear’s mother) has also been subjected to strained relations with the singer. In a previous Instagram post last year, Spears revealed that three years had passed before she saw her mother again; despite this extended period of silence between them, however, Britney remained hopeful about their relationship healing over time due to the passage of time alone.
Meanwhile, Britney’s marriage with Sam Asghari is currently in a state of divorce proceedings following his initial petition for separation filed last August. Despite having married nearly nine months ago after five years together, their break-up came less than 30 days after confirming to People Magazine that they were expecting their first child via IVF treatment.
