Brunson Breaks Record as Knicks Topple 76ers in Game 4, Lead Series 3-1

One game after Joel Embiid set a career-high with 50 points in the Philadelphia 76ers’ Game 3 win, New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson delivered an outstanding performance in Game 4. The Knicks secured a crucial victory on the road by a scoreline of 97-92, putting them three wins away from advancing to the second round of the NBA playoffs with a series lead of 3-1.
Brunson’s remarkable efforts set a new franchise record for most points scored in a single playoff game as he finished with an impressive total of 47 points. The Knicks trailed by eight at halftime, but Brunson’s exceptional performance ensured the team led after the third quarter thanks to his crucial foul shots on De’Anthony Melton during a floater attempt.
The fourth quarter was low-scoring, and it came down to the final minutes of the game where Jalen Brunson’s last two free throws sealed New York Knicks’ victory while breaking Bernard King’s 46 points record against Detroit Pistons in 1984. Although Josh Hart struggled with his shots throughout the matchup (0-of-7 from the floor and 4 of 8 from the foul line), he made up for it by securing a team-high total of 17 rebounds, while OG Anunoby contributed to the Knicks’ win through his double-double performance.
In contrast, Joel Embiid played both halves but appeared exhausted towards the end of the game as he finished with an impressive total scoreline of 27 points along with 10 boards following his incredible performance in Game Three (50 Points). Tyrese Maxey added 23 points to Philadelphia’s tally, shooting at a rate of 8-of-21.
As the Knicks and 76ers return to New York City for game five with hope from Big Apple’ supporters to send Philadelphia out as quickly possible after already defeating Milwaukee Bucks in round one last year. The series continues on Thursday, April 30th (9:00 PM EDT). Brunson’s heroic efforts will undoubtedly be crucial for the Knicks moving forward if they hope to progress further into this season’s playoffs.
