Cubs versus Red Sox at 7 PM ET tonight highlights an unconventional sporting scene in the MLB interleague series. Although this game doesn’t quite fit into a classic movie narrative, it features two legendary franchises battling against each other on national TV through Sunday Night Baseball. Despite winning matches throughout April, the Cubs are yet to win over the division championship just by playing better baseball in the early season phase. There is still an immense amount of league play left that can dramatically change things for Chicago’s team. The possibility remains open as they might acquire a pitcher or another hitter during this period. With their latest player Jordan Wicks getting his spot on today’s starting list, his overall stats may not appear appealing but he has managed to perform quite decently in the last outing against Astros with six innings and only two earned runs scored by him. This is the first time that Red Sox will face this particular Cub pitcher during their encounter tonight at Fenway Park.
On the other hand, Boston’s expectations for 2021 were relatively low before the start of this season; however, staying close to .500 indicates internal victory in some ways. Although it is not likely that they will qualify as a playoff team or even fight over wild-card contention now, at least there seems like mediocre progress happening for Red Sox fans. Tonight’s pitcher Tanner Houck has been exceptional so far this year if we assume the current MLB season concludes right here and then; he might be a strong candidate to win Cy Young award as well. The Cubs have not encountered him much, but they should brace themselves for his formidable performance tonight at Fenway Park since most of baseball is highly dependent on pitching.
Although the Red Sox seem like favorites in this match-up due to Houck’s impeccable run throughout 2021 so far, it doesn’t mean that Cubs cannot win against them as well; however, betting experts suggest wagering for a Boston victory tonight since their pitcher is more likely to dominate the opposing team.
