Denny Hamlin secured his third victory of the current NASCAR Cup Series campaign during Sunday’s Würth 400 at Dover International Speedway. The driver edged out Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr., with a strategic move on pit road allowing him to pull ahead after an accident involving Christopher Bell, William Byron, and Bubba Wallace late in the race. Hamlin’s triumph saw him tie Lee Petty for 12th position among all-time Cup Series winners at 54 successes apiece. The driver acknowledged his team as being integral to this achievement: “I couldn’t hold Lee Petty’s helmet. I’ve been blessed with a great race team… Everyone who supports the 11 car, they’re the ones who make it happen.” Larson finished in second place and retained first position in the driver standings ahead of Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott. Truex claimed fifth spot on this occasion following his victory at Dover last year during the spring race. The NASCAR season will move to Kansas Speedway next week for its subsequent event.
