Fox Nation’s latest documentary ‘What Diddy Did: The Rise and Fall of Hip-Hop Mogul P. Diddy,’ explores in detail the career journey of music icon Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently facing multiple sexual assault lawsuits. In a recent legal move, lawyers representing Combs filed a motion to dismiss several claims made against him by Joi Dickerson-Neal in her lawsuit alleging that he intentionally drugged and sexually assaulted her while on a date in 1991. Diddy’s team argued that the New York State Revenge Porn Law, which came into effect in December 2017, cannot be retroactively applied to this case as Dickerson-Neal claimed Combs recorded and distributed the alleged assault tape. Additionally, his lawyers contended that another claim made under the New York Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Law (VHTL), which became effective in 2007, is invalid because it was approximately sixteen years after the accused sexual offense had allegedly taken place. These contentions followed an argument earlier this year by Steven Tyler’s legal team that his alleged assault on a teenage girl in 1975 did not meet the “serious risk of physical injury” threshold required for pursuing litigation under similar laws aimed at protecting victims from sex abuse crimes, as cited in Dickerson-Neal’s lawsuit. Meanwhile, Combs continues to face three other sexual assault lawsuits filed by Liza Gardner, Jane Doe and music producer Rodeny “Lil Rod” Jones; he has denied all the allegations against him. Last month, homeland security agents reportedly conducted simultaneous raids at both Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami homes as part of a federal human trafficking investigation. However, it remains unclear if Combs is among those targeted in this ongoing probe by the authorities concerned. The documentary ‘What Did P.Diddy Do,’ which premiered on Fox Nation last week, offers viewers an intimate insight into Diddy’s professional and personal life, from his humble beginnings as a music executive to becoming one of America’s most successful African-American entrepreneurs. However, it is also evident that the documentary’s release coincides with Combs facing multiple legal challenges related to sexual assault allegations against him; this has led some critics to question whether Fox Nation was attempting to influence public opinion in his favor by presenting a more sympathetic portrayal of Diddy at such an opportune moment. Nonetheless, Combs’ lawyers have strongly refuted these claims and assert that their client is innocent until proven guilty; they maintain that he continues fighting legally every single day for clearing his name of the meritless accusations against him.
