Harvard’s Disgraceful Display: Anti-Israel Protestors Fly Palestinian Flag, Sympathize with Terror Group Hamas

In a highly offensive and disrespectful act, anti-Israel protestors at Harvard University hoisted the Palestinian flag outside University Hall on Saturday. Normally, this pole flies Old Glory – the American flag. Several demonstrators took part in raising these flags while others chanted “Down, down with occupation. Up, up with liberation” and then switched to “Free, free Palestine.”
As reported by The Harvard Crimson, protestors raised three Palestinian banners above University Hall during this unscrupulous event. University officials subsequently replaced them once university police called in Yard Operations personnel for assistance. Protestors shouted “Shame!” at the authorities as they removed these flags from display.
Harvard has been a central player in enabling students to express repugnant pro-Palestinian views, given that Hamas is recognised as an outright terrorist group worldwide except by Palestinian organisations themselves and several others within its vicinity including Iran – yet many students on university campuses continue sympathising with this regime. Some universities have become so hostile towards Jewish students that they’ve been advised to leave for their own safety in light of the danger posed against them, given how virulent such views are spreading nowadays even into high schools (an investigation found one-third of American Jews believe it is “somewhat likely” or “very likely” a Jew will be physically attacked in America over the next few years).
Flying Palestinian flags where Old Glory usually flies signifies much more than just some misguided students supporting an oppressive regime. It represents deep-seated disdain for American values and ideals, which is why these protestors are so quick to side with Hamas – a terrorist group that perpetrated heinous acts of violence against Israeli citizens on October 7th.
Despite being some of the most privileged individuals in society today (many born into wealthy families or able to afford Harvard’s exorbitant tuition), these young adults hold incredibly skewed views towards their home country – which they consider an evil entity for no apparent reason whatsoever except perhaps their ignorance. They see Palestinians as oppressed people due mainly because of their religion and skin colour (both predominantly Muslim & brown respectively) whilst viewing Israeli settlers, who are mostly Jewish with white complexions by default, as the oppressors despite any rational reasoning supporting such claims based purely on personal beliefs devoid entirely from logical deduction.
Such protestors in favour of Hamas display their profound brainwashing through their simplistic worldview that divides humanity into two classes: “oppressor” and “the oppressed”. This is a highly dangerous mindset, especially considering the increasing instances where students’ opinions become overtly hostile towards Jewish people.
During my visit to Harvard in October 2019, I conversed with some of these pro-Palestine protestors who were organising fundraising efforts for Palestinians at that time. When asked why they chose this cause specifically instead of helping all those affected by the Middle East conflict equally (including Israeli civilians), one replied stating that Hamas treats Israeli hostages very well – a claim which was later backed up with an article from CNN’s website, published around October 2019 (date to be verified). These same students earlier denied any such association between their protests and Jewish people at large before displaying such antisemitic sentiments.
Their actions are nothing short of shameful indeed!
