Jen Lilley’s Faith Journey as an Actress on Hallmark, Great American Family, and Soap Operas

Hallmark and Great American Family actress Jen Lilley has opened up about how her faith guides her acting career and teaches her important life lessons along the way. With roles on soap operas “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives,” as well as films for Hallmark and Great American Family, Lilley sees every part as a ministry opportunity. Although she tries to remain open-minded wherever God leads her, initially resisting playing Theresa Donovan in “Days of Our Lives.” She revealed that the character’s morals were completely different from hers, which made it difficult for her at first. However, after consulting with her manager and praying about it, Lilley heard a distinct voice encouraging her to take on this role as she felt God wanted her to do so because Theresa represents how empty people feel when they are caught up in the wrong things. This experience has helped Lilley become more empathetic towards others’ perspectives despite disagreeing with them and understand that hate is often just a mask for hurt. She believes everyone craves Jesus due to an inherent longing at our core as it brings out what we truly need, which includes being seen, loved, heard, and valued. Lilley also expressed her excitement about the trend of high-quality faith-based projects like “The Chosen,” believing that Christians should lead in creativity and excellence rather than producing subpar Christian entertainment.
