The New England Patriots have taken an unconventional approach to solving their quarterback problem by stockpiling as many signal callers as possible, according to team captain Jerod Mayo. The Pats selected two QB prospects in last weekend’s NFL draft – Drake Maye at No. 3 and Joe Milton III with the final selection in round six (193rd overall) – joining veterans Jacoby Brissett and Bailey Zappe, as well as undrafted free agent Nathan Rourke, leaving five QB options on their roster. The team parted ways with Mac Jones earlier this year after two underwhelming seasons starting for the Pats. Mayo explained that acquiring talented players is a top priority and Milton was no exception, while stressing competition in every aspect of football. As it stands now, all five QBs will be present during off-season training sessions; however, final decisions on roster placements are yet to come as the team continues negotiations with potential free agent signings set for arrival soon.
