Renewing her defense against criticism over an incident detailed in her upcoming memoir “No Going Back”, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has claimed that she made a tough but responsible decision while describing killing her dog Cricket, who had shown aggressive behavior towards people and killed several chickens. In the 20-year-old story included in the book due to be released on May 7, Noem explained how after finding out about South Dakota’s law that allows dogs attacking livestock to be put down, she decided it was necessary for Cricket as well. Although the author recognized that many were angry following coverage by British publication Guardian earlier last week, she maintained her stance and said people are looking up to leaders who remain authentic in their decisions while handling tough challenges with responsibility. She further explained how despite being a lover of animals like horses, which they had recently put down due to old age, such difficult choices have been made on farms as well. Noem’s memoir has already generated controversy and speculation about her potential candidacy for former President Donald Trump’s vice-presidential bid in the upcoming elections.
