Prince Harry Returns for Invictus Games Decade Anniversary at St Paul’s Cathedral as Charles Continues Recovery

Prince Harry is set to return to the UK next month for a significant event marking 10 years since he founded the Invictus Games, a sporting competition aimed at supporting wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans in their recovery process. The Duke of Sussex will deliver a reading during a ceremony held on May 8th at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral. In recent weeks Harry revealed that after news surfaced detailing King Charles’ battle with cancer earlier this year he made an immediate trip to the UK from his home in America as soon as possible, adding: “I love my family.” It is currently unclear whether Meghan will accompany her husband on this occasion given it falls just two days before their son Archie’s fifth birthday. Buckingham Palace has announced that Charles’ medical team have been pleased with the King’s progress and remain positive about his recovery, although he won’t be carrying out a full summer program in consultation with his doctors after recently resuming public engagements. Next year’s Invictus Games will take place in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada from February 19th to the 27th. The event is set to welcome more than 500 competitors representing over twenty nations who’ll compete across adaptive sports including indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair rugby and basketball as well as winter events such as Alpine skiing and snowboarding, Nordic skiing and biathlon, skeleton, and wheelchair curling. The games will be held in partnership with First Nations “in the spirit of truth and reconciliation” to honour Indigenous communities.
