Senator Lindsey Graham Urges Swift Action for Normalization Deal Between Saudi Arabia and Israel, Citing Security Benefits and Pressure from Biden Administration

Senator Lindsey Graham has expressed his desire to assist President Joe Biden’s administration in achieving a significant normalization agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel. The South Carolina Republican urged officials to act quickly, stating that “We’re running out of time.” He believes that such an accord would put an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict while isolating Iran and providing security for both nations. Graham has spoken twice with Biden about this issue and collaborated closely with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan in their efforts towards normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel. The former President Donald Trump, who wants to see “peace reign” and an end to the killing, is also supportive of such a deal according to Graham’s remarks on CNN’s ‘State of the Union’. As part of this proposed treaty, Graham stated that Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman cannot recognize Israel without the mutual defense agreement between Saudi Arabia and the United States. He added that Trump will receive his fair share of credit if such a deal is built upon the foundation established by the Abraham Accords signed in 2020 which led to Bahrain, UAE recognizing Israeli sovereignty. Graham’s plea for swift action on this issue highlights growing pressure as Secretary Blinken prepares his trip to Saudi Arabia later this week amidst ongoing ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas.
