US Campus Israel Protests: Indy Arrests, Counter-Protest, 50 Cops

Recent developments at college campuses in the US showcase an uptick in protesting against Israel. In Indiana University last weekend, demonstrators harassed law enforcement officials as they took down tent installations opposed to Israel. One person observed the removal and expressed annoyance via video recording; those assembled hurled “Pigs go home!” at the officers involved. Additionally, a group of fraternity members appeared in counter-protest while “The Star-Spangled Banner” played, with their hands on hearts. The Indiana Daily Student reported that around 50 police personnel were present during this incident; protests have been escalating over recent days. Approximately thirty-three protesters got arrested on Thursday alone. Similar demonstrations are taking place at various campuses across the country this week as well, such as Washington University and Arizona State University, to name a couple. Other schools involved include USC (which has closed its campus), Columbia University (where over one hundred individuals were detained), Yale, Harvard, Minnesota, Johns Hopkins, among others. Stein’s campaign manager revealed that he himself was arrested at the Indiana encampment alongside his candidate and deputy campaign manager on Saturday morning.
