10 wounded in shooting at Florida nightclub; NFL player Tank Dell among victims

10 people sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds in a shooting that occurred at Cabana Live Event venue located outside Sanford, Florida early Sunday morning as reported by FOX 35 News. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the incident took place around midnight when deputies on patrol heard multiple shots coming from behind the establishment. After dispersing of the crowd, it was determined that all injuries sustained were non-life threatening.
The authorities said a fistfight broke out inside Cabana Live following which an uninvolved black male subject identified as 16-year-old Christopher Bouie Jr., wearing dark pants and gray/black jacket turned around and pulled out a handgun, firing indiscriminately at the crowd. A security guard of the venue was able to tackle Bouie Jr and disarm him while another joined in to place him under arrest. The police report confirmed that management provided information stating Bouie Jr indeed shot into a group of people inside the premises after his mother declined to permit anyone questioning her son until an attorney arrived, following which he was taken to Seminole County Juvenile Assessment Center for criminal charges.
The firearm used by Bouie Jr is said to be 9mm and shell cases were also found on the floor that matched those recovered from the magazine of his handgun as reported by officials in charge. The police stated several victims informed them they intended to prosecute following treatment at a nearby hospital for gunshot wounds.
Tank Dell, an NFL player representing Houston Texans confirmed via a statement issued through team representatives that he was among those injured during the shooting incident but had been discharged from the hospital and is in good spirits. The authorities have arrested Bouie Jr on charges of attempted homicide, firing weapons in public places, using firearms while committing felonies, as well as possession of a handgun by a minor after apprehending him outside Cabana Live.
Cabana Live has issued an official statement through their Facebook page requesting prayers for all those affected and confirming that the venue’s family is safe despite being caught in this isolated incident during which they were hosting a private event, with further details awaited as investigations continue under police supervision.
