Anne Hathaway revealed her decision to give up alcohol five years ago during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2018, explaining that she wanted to be fully present for her young son. In a recent interview with The New York Times, the actress reflected further on this choice and shared that being over five years sober now feels like a significant milestone as she approaches forty. Hathaway also discussed how she prefers not to label certain stages of life as “middle age,” given its uncertain nature.
In addition to discussing her sobriety and aging, the interview touched on the possibility of a third installment in The Princess Diaries franchise. Although Hathawi had previously stated that this was no longer an option due to the movies being firmly set in her past, she now simply replied “Yep” when asked if anything was cooking for a potential sequel.
Hathaway’s latest project is the upcoming romantic drama The Idea of You, which will be released on Amazon Prime Video on May 2nd. In this film, directed by Michael Showalter and based on Robinne Lee’s novel, Hathaway plays Solène – a divorced mother who falls in love with a much younger celebrity played by Nicholas Galitzine.
