Anti-Israel Protests Erupt at Elite Universities Amid Call for Divestment

Fox News reporter Ashley Strohmier provides updates on anti-Israel demonstrations taking place at prestigious universities across the country as part of an ongoing movement against Israel’s military actions in Gaza, which have resulted in over 34,000 deaths, mainly civilians. Protesters are demanding that their institutions end investments tied to companies involved with Israeli operations and calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The demonstrations at Virginia Tech, Columbia University, Princeton, Yale, the University of Southern California, and others have resulted in hundreds of arrests since April 18 when New York police removed an anti-Israel protest encampment from Columbia’s campus and arrested over a hundred protesters. Some students are threatening to disrupt upcoming graduation ceremonies with continued demonstrations. Over the weekend alone, approximately 275 individuals were detained at various universities including Indiana University Bloomington, Arizona State University, Northwestern University in Chicago, Northeastern University in Boston, and Washington University in St Louis where police arrested more than a hundred protesters following scuffles between students, some of whom wore masks.
