Arizona Republicans Indicted for Falsifying Election Certificates

“In Arizona, fresh reactions are emerging after a grand jury charged eleven Republicans with attempting to reverse President Joe Biden’s victory in 2020 by favouring Donald Trump through falsifying official documents called certificates of vote. Attorney General Kris Mayes announced the indictment on April 25 alongside further charges against others, including party officials and committee members within Arizona Republican Party circles. Democratic political consultant Toni Cani explained that these accused individuals signed a document to Congress inaccurately stating Trump had won over Biden in Arizona during video footage from two years ago. Defendant James Lamon’s lawyer Dennis Wilenchik argued his client did not commit any criminal offences, and the paperwork was only meant as a formality rather than carrying weight or authority for any purpose whatsoever. The document allegedly falsely declared that Trump had won Arizona when it came to certifying its vote counts for presidential electors back in December 2020.”
