The democratic strategist James Carville recently expressed concern about the decreasing support for President Biden from young and non-white voters. In a video posted on Sunday, he criticized younger voters’ discontent with Biden due to his age as “two candidates, one’s in their 80s, one is almost in their 80s”. Carville argued that the Supreme Court’s conservative majority could potentially take away all of young people’s rights if former President Trump returns into office. The 93-year old called supreme court justices “illegitimate whores” and asserted that they are not a legitimate branch of government due to their contrived appointments resulting from weakness and cowardice in politics. Carville warned the president’s coalition will significantly deviate during future elections as recent polling demonstrates diminished backing from young, black men and hispanics males, with an abrupt change seen within this demographic group. In April, he shared similar sentiments on MSNBC stating that there is a significant probability of losing support from Hispanic men while acknowledging some improvement in the president’s polling numbers overall. Carville urged young people to take their future seriously and vote as if it depends entirely upon them because according to him, “quite frankly, [it] does”. He also expressed his dismay about younger voters being uninterested in politics during a previous interview when he referred to the current polling among this demographic group as ‘horrifying’.
