Celine Dion Reveals Painful Tiara Mishap at Wedding to Late Husband Rene Angelil

FILE – Celine Dion with René Angélil at their wedding in Montreal, Canada, on December 17, 1994. The lavish wedding of renowned singer Céline Dion and her late husband, Réné Angélil, is still etched in memories for its romance as well as a painful mishap involving the elaborate tiara that adorned Dion’s head during the ceremony. In an interview with Vogue magazine, Dion revealed how what was meant to be a symbol of beauty and celebration turned into discomfort when it came down to actually wearing the glittery accessory on her big day. The singer described how she had rehearsed donning the tiara in a spacious ballroom without any issues but faced unexpected challenges during the ceremony at the cathedral due to its carpeted floors, which altered the way it sat on her head. “I practiced and everything is smooth and everything is fine,” Dion recounted, adding: “But when I had to walk in the cathedral, it’s no wooden floor, it’s a carpet.” The Grammy-winning singer further revealed that by the end of the nightlong celebrations, she discovered an injury on her forehead due to pressure from the tiara. She was prescribed antibiotics for three weeks to reduce swelling caused by the cut sustained during the ceremony. Despite this ordeal, Dion said it wouldn’t change anything about that day as it remains one of the happiest moments in her life with Angélil “bringing out the best” in her. The singer has recently been featured on Vogue’s popular segment “My Life in Looks,” during which she also opened up about some iconic outfits from throughout her career, including her wedding dress.
