Chicago Resident Easley Slams Mayoral Proposal on Migrant Funding Allocation, Opposition Grows

Chicago resident P-Rae Easley expressed gratitude towards Mayor Brandon Johnson during an appearance on Fox & Friends for uniting the city in opposition to his proposal to divert tax funds intended for local residents towards supporting illegal immigrants. Despite fierce objections, the City Council recently approved a request from Mayor Johnson for $70 million to address the ongoing migrant crisis facing Chicago. This additional funding comes after an initial allocation of $150 million was already included in the budget. The mayor’s office stated that this extra money is necessary to prepare for any sudden influxes sent by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. At its peak, Chicago has accommodated more than 2,000 migrants arriving weekly since August last year, with a total of nearly 40,000 individuals having arrived during the same period. Easley highlighted that opposition to this funding allocation is gaining traction among local residents, and revealed that her recent protests have shed light on a shift in opinion concerning the diversion of resources intended for native citizens towards non-citizens who are not legally entitled to such support. She emphasized that alternative measures needed greater focus rather than dedicating already insufficient public finances aimed at restoring services vital to residents’ everyday needs, like transporting children and combatting drug addiction within the community. One city councillor drew comparisons between recent migrant waves and past immigration trends in America; however, Easley rejected this narrative by stating that immigrants who arrived legally through Ellis Island or New Orleans ports were subjected to thorough vetting procedures before entering the country via consulates rather than risky journeys unregulated across treacherous territories. She also raised concerns about potential security risks posed by migrants without legal documentation and no record of entry, emphasizing that they have not been vetted at embassies or had their fingerprints taken before entering the country. Easley clarified that her protest is not an anti-Brandon Johnson movement but rather a pushback against chaos and progressive ideologies which she believes threaten stability within local communities in favor of open border agendas perpetrated by politicians like Mayor Johnson, who has become their spokesperson as they continue to advocate for such policies.
