Deadly EF-4 Tornado Devastates Marietta as Oklahoma Sees Massive Outbreak of Twisters

The National Weather Service has upgraded a tornado that hit Marietta in Oklahoma from an EF-3 to an EF-4 with winds reaching 170 mph over a track of 27 miles, according to reports on Monday. At least four people have died and more than 100 others were injured after at least 22 tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma during a severe weather outbreak that also damaged or destroyed homes, businesses, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, gas stations, grocery stores, Dollar General shops, and power lines across the state. In Marietta alone, where one person was killed along Interstate 35, at least 40 buildings have been affected by the tornadoes, including homes, offices, and government facilities as crews work to restore electricity in nearby areas. The powerful storms also caused heavy damage to semi-trailer trucks on roadsides and cars parked near gas stations like Brody’s Roadies, where several drivers seeking shelter amidst the chaos included residents impacted by the twister that left a trail of water damages and product losses inside stores as it sucked out items from them. The tornadoes also affected hospitals in Holdenville, Marietta, Sulphur, among other towns with numerous injuries reported to local authorities who are working alongside emergency responders to provide assistance during this difficult time. One fatality involved a baby in Hughes County according to reports on Monday evening by Oklahoma television station KOCO as cleanup efforts continue across the affected areas amidst the aftermath of these destructive weather events that have left many residents counting their blessings for surviving with friends and neighbors pitching in where they can while local authorities assess damages, clear debris, and offer support.
