A District Attorney in New York has found herself in hot water after being caught speeding and refusing to stop for a police officer last week. Sandra Doorley returned home following the traffic incident in Webster, NY on April 22 but failed to adhere to the cop’s commands when he arrived at her residence. Bodycam footage obtained by WHAM-TV showed an exchange between the District Attorney and law enforcement that quickly turned heated as she repeatedly referred to herself as a DA while swearing at the officer calling him “an a–hole.” Doorley explained to police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier over the phone that she was not a threat, but instead promised to speak with the cop in person. When asked why she failed to stop by the policeman during their confrontation, Doorley responded: “I didn’t feel like stopping,” prompting him to reply: “That’s not your choice.” The District Attorney later apologized for her behavior and pleaded guilty on April 25 at a hearing held in Webster Town Court. A spokesperson issued the following statement via WHEC-TV regarding Doorley’s conduct: “Nobody, including your district attorney is above the rule of law – even traffic laws.” Following the incident, members of Rochester City Council sent an April 27 letter signed by all nine representatives to New York State Attorney General Letitia James requesting she investigate Doorley’s behavior. This story was reported from Washington D.C.
