National transportation expert Mike Caudill shares insights into the history of the iconic Ford Mustang during an appearance on “The Big Money Show.” Meanwhile, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a probe into Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving technology after two fatal crashes involving electric SUVs. The investigation covers around 130,000 Mustang Mach-E vehicles from model years spanning between 2021 and 2024, with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) also conducting separate investigations into both incidents. Both crashes occurred during nighttime lighting conditions while BlueCruise was engaged immediately prior to impact in one of them. Ford is cooperating with NHTSA as part of its probe focusing on assessing how effectively BlueCruise performs the dynamic driving task and driver monitoring, which uses a camera-based system to determine attentiveness. The investigation follows previous special crash investigations by NHTSA into both fatal incidents involving Mustang Mach-E electric SUVs with Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0, which features BlueCruise technology introduced in 2021 and currently available across a range of Ford and Lincoln vehicles.
