Hunter Biden set to sue Fox News over five-year defamation campaign sparked by Smirnov conspiracy allegations

Lawyers representing Hunter Biden have announced their intention to file a defamation lawsuit against Fox News “imminently,” according to a letter sent by them. The notice, obtained by NBC News and served on the network, alleges that it engaged in a conspiracy to harm Biden’s reputation through false statements, painting him as a villain for financial gain and ratings boosting purposes over five years. The legal team has been hired by Biden from Mark Geragos’ firm who represented several high-profile clients including Michael Jackson, Colin Kaepernick, Jussie Smollett, and Chris Brown in the past. According to Media Matters data cited in the statement made by Geragos himself, Fox News had mentioned Hunter Biden a whopping 13,440 times since January 2023 alone. The lawsuit is being prompted as part of an alleged conspiracy led by Smirnov, who was indicted on charges related to making false statements about the Bidens in February this year. A spokesperson for Fox News could not be immediately reached by The Washington Examiner’s request for comment regarding the matter at hand.
