Mario Kart 24V Ride-On Recall: Debris Clogging Causes Pedal Sticking, Crash Hazard

Roughly 17,500 Mario Kart 24V ride-on racer toys manufactured by JAKKS Pacific were recalled on Thursday after it came to light that debris clogging in certain parts could lead the acceleration pedal to get stuck, resulting in a hazardous crash scenario. The Consumer Product Safety Commission revealed this news via an alert issued yesterday.
The affected ride-on cars are red, white and blue in color with ‘M’ written on it at its front part inside a circle that is white in hue. These toys were sold online as well as through retailers like Target, Walmart, Entertainment Earth and Nebraska Furniture Market between October 2022 to January this year for approximately $400 each.
The manufacturing codes impacted by the recall are: 1752VE01, 1782VE01, 1952VE01, 2242VE01, 2352VE01, 2852VE01 and 0583VE01. These codes can be found at the bottom of a blue panel situated beneath these toys.
JAKKS Pacific stated that it received around sixty-five reports regarding pedals getting stuck due to debris clogging in certain areas; fifteen out of those incidents resulted in crashes with permanent structures involved as well, yet no significant injuries have been reported until now aside from a case involving chafed hands.
