Major League Baseball (MLB) is set to implement changes to the newly introduced Nike uniforms this season due to criticism from both fans and players during spring training, as per ESPN’s report quoting an MLB Players’ Association memo that was circulated on Sunday. The association has reportedly blamed Nike for these issues instead of Fanatics, which manufactures the jerseys.
The changes include a return to larger name lettering at the back of players’ uniforms, fixing mismatched shades of gray in road jerseys and pants, and going back to a “higher quality zipper” for pant closings, as stated by ESPN’s sources citing MLB’s communication with teams.
The memo also reportedly praised Fanatics for listening to player and fan feedback while criticizing Nike for not doing the same despite being MLB’s official uniform supplier since 2019.
