Multiple Officers Shot in Charlotte Active Shooter Situation: CMPD SWAT on Scene

CHARLOTTE, N.C – Multiple law enforcement officers have been hit by gunfire in Charlotte, North Carolina as per a statement released on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD). CMPD mentioned that there were numerous victims and shooting still persisted at the site.
The incident occurred while authorities attempted to serve an arrest warrant in the 5000 block of Galway Drive, following which shots were fired. The exact number of officers injured has not been disclosed yet as initial reports suggest this is a dynamic situation. Police have closed several roads around the area for faster ambulance transport and urged people to stay away from it while requesting residents to remain indoors until further notice.
At 2:23 p.m., CMPD confirmed on X that its SWAT team was already at the location working through the incident, still describing this as an active scene whereby individuals are advised against approaching or visiting the area for their safety and well-being.
