Pasadena Doctor Charged with Attempted Murder and Child Abuse after Deliberate Tesla Plunge with Family Causing Psychotic Episodes

In January of last year, a doctor based out of Pasadena faced charges of attempted murder and child abuse after investigations found that he deliberately drove his Tesla off the cliff near Devil’s Slide with his wife and two children inside. The accused individual is Dharmesh Patel, a 43-year-old radiologist from Pasadena who was suffering from major depressive disorder and psychotic features on the day of the incident, according to Mark Patterson, a licensed clinical psychologist, who testified in court regarding the case. According to him, during this period, Patel heard footsteps and had delusions stemming from significant news headlines surrounding issues such as war in Ukraine and fentanyl crisis in the US. His greatest fear was that his children could be kidnapped or molested; this apparently was related to his anxieties concerning Jeffrey Epstein – a wealthy financier accused of operating a sex-trafficking ring. Patterson further added during the hearing that Patel is an excellent candidate for mental health diversion programs since he has shown significant progress over the past year and poses little risk of harming others in future. If granted, this would imply his participation in these programmes instead of standing trial on charges involving first-degree attempted murder after prosecutors claimed that Patel intentionally drove off a 250ft cliff with his family inside to commit suicide by homicide as they sustained severe injuries. Following the crash, his wife and seven-year-old daughter suffered serious wounds while his four-year-old son escaped without any physical injury whatsoever, officials revealed at that time.
